Day 9 — He Knows Completely

Psalm 147:5; Hebrews 4:13-16

There are limits to what we know.

We forget names, misplace things, misunderstand conversations, and make decisions without knowing how everything will turn out. Even when we carefully study a situation, there are details we cannot see and motives we cannot fully understand.

But God knows everything.

God is omniscient. His knowledge is complete and perfect.

He knows everything that has happened, everything happening now, and everything that will happen. He knows every corner of creation and every person He has made. He knows our words before we speak them, our thoughts before we explain them, and the motives hidden beneath our actions.

God never learns something new.

He never suddenly realizes that a situation is more complicated than He expected. No event catches Him by surprise, and no missing detail causes Him to make a mistake.

Psalm 147 says, “Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.”

God does not simply possess more information than we do. His understanding has no limit. He knows every fact perfectly and always knows what is wise, right, and good.

That truth can be uncomfortable.

Hebrews tells us that no creature is hidden from God. Everything is open and exposed before Him. We may hide our sin from other people. We may make excuses or even convince ourselves that our motives were better than they really were.

But we cannot hide from God.

Thankfully, Hebrews does not leave us exposed without hope. It immediately points us to Jesus, our great High Priest, who invites believers to draw near to the throne of grace.

Jesus knew the full weight of our sin when He went to the cross. He was not surprised by our failures or unaware of what forgiveness would cost. He willingly died in the place of sinners and rose again.

Repentance and faith do not earn forgiveness. They are the response God calls us to make to His grace. Everyone who repents and trusts in Christ may be forgiven and brought near to God.

Because of Christ, believers do not have to run from the God who knows everything. We can come honestly, confess our sin, and ask for His help.

God knows the worry we have not shared, the grief we cannot explain, and the prayer we struggle to put into words. Romans 8 assures us that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and intercedes when we do not know how to pray as we should.

To be completely known by another person might feel frightening.

But to be completely known by the perfectly wise, holy, and merciful God—and welcomed through Christ by faith—is a place of deep security.

• Is there something you have been trying to hide from God or from yourself?
• How does God’s complete knowledge bring both conviction and comfort?
• What burden can you honestly bring to Him today?

Prayer

All-knowing God, nothing about me is hidden from You. You know my thoughts, motives, fears, failures, and needs. Help me walk honestly before You instead of hiding or making excuses. Thank You for Jesus, my great High Priest, who makes it possible for me to draw near to Your throne of grace. Teach me to rest in the comfort of being completely known and cared for by You. Amen.
