Day 20 — Knowing Him, Living for Him
John 17:3; Romans 12:1–2
We can know the right words without letting them change the way we live.
We may say God is faithful while worrying as though everything depends on us. We may celebrate His mercy while showing little compassion to someone else.
Learning about God matters. But knowing Him is more than collecting facts.
Jesus described eternal life as knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent. We know God through His revelation, not through a relationship we invent according to our feelings. We come to Him through Christ.
The eternal Son of God became man, lived without sin, died in the place of sinners, and rose again. By God’s grace, everyone who repents and trusts Jesus as Lord and Savior receives forgiveness and eternal life. Repentance and faith are responses to His grace, not ways to earn salvation.
We are saved by His grace, not by how well we live.
But His grace does not leave us unchanged.
In Romans 12, Paul urges believers to offer their bodies as a living sacrifice in response to God’s mercies. Worship reaches beyond songs and Sunday mornings into our everyday choices.
It may look like telling the truth when lying would be easier or serving someone when no one notices.
Paul also calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The Holy Spirit uses God’s Word to renew our thinking, convict us of sin, strengthen our faith, and teach us to obey like Jesus.
The truths we have considered belong in those ordinary moments.
Because God is holy, we should take sin seriously.
Because He is wise and faithful, we can trust Him when we do not understand.
Because He is merciful and gracious, we can confess honestly and show compassion to others.
These responses do not earn His love or repay Him for salvation. They grow from knowing the God who has saved us.
We will not live this out perfectly. Growth takes time, and we still need His correction, forgiveness, and help.
The goal is to know Him more deeply—and, by His grace, live in a way that honors Him.
